Dear Valued Patients of the Marshall Clinic,
We would like to inform everyone that Dr. Payam Matin is leaving us to go back to school and will be pursuing a dental speciality in Periodontics. We have enjoyed working with him and wish him success in his dental journey.
We have taken great efforts to find someone who can uphold the high quality of service that you have experienced in our clinic. After an extensive search, numerous interviews, hands-on evaluation and consultations with the team, I am pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Matthew Choi to the clinic.
Dr. Choi graduated with an undergraduate in Biochemistry and Doctor of Dental Medicine from UBC in 2013. He practiced in Cranbrook, BC for 2 years in a busy clinic before returning to Vancouver. He is excited to be able to practice dentistry in a comprehensive way and to take the time to do it right. He will be a perfect fit in our office!
Also, he is excited to be able to build close relationships with everyone while providing the highest quality of dentistry. He looks forward to meeting everyone.
We would like to invite you to read his bio below where you can get to know him a little bit better. We are thrilled to have Matthew in our dental team. Please say hello to him when you see him around the office!
Sincerely,
Bruce and the Team at The Marshall Clinic
Matthew Choi, B.Sc. DMD | General Dentist
Matthew grew up in Richmond and graduated with his undergraduate Biochemistry and Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from UBC in 2013. He practiced in Cranbrook, BC in the Kootenay Rockies before making his way back to the big city to marry his lovely wife, Sherry. He hopes to replicate the small town close-knit relationships he has grown to admire. Matthew enjoys all aspects of dentistry and values taking the time to learn the stories behind each person he treats. He has found an amazing mentor in working alongside Bruce.
Matthew is a member of the British Columbia Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He is a lifelong student and has completed over 150 hours of continuing education every year since graduation. In the past, he has also studied at the Spear Education Institute. He is currently studying at the prestigious Kois Centre in Seattle and under the intensive 300-hour curriculum of the AAID Maxi implant course.
In the past, he has enjoyed organizing low-cost dental clinics for the less-privileged population of the Vancouver Downtown East Side and has provided free dental treatment at the Salvation Army dental clinic (first one in Canada!) in Cranbrook, BC. He has also travelled far to volunteer at orphanages in Brazil and has provided dental education (en Español) to rural communities in Honduras.
In his downtime, Matthew enjoys spending time with his family. You may find him running/biking along the False Creek seawall on sunny days or struggling up the Grouse Grind on weekends. He looks forward to meeting and getting to know you!
